Privacy Policy

Applies to the MyBarbell mobile app for iOS and Android.
Last updated: 7 August 2026

The short version: MyBarbell does not collect anything. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no trackers. It does not send any data off your device, because it has no server to send it to. Everything you enter stays in the app's own storage on your phone.

1. Who we are

MyBarbell is published by Jonathan McGinty ("we", "us"). You can reach us at jonathan.paul.mcginty+mybarbellapp@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

Nothing. We do not collect, receive, transmit, store on our own systems, sell, or share any personal data or usage data whatsoever. We have no ability to identify you or your device.

Specifically, MyBarbell does not:

3. What the app stores on your device

MyBarbell saves your settings and entries locally so the app remembers them between sessions. This data lives only in the app's private storage area on your phone. We cannot see it, and it is never uploaded.

WhatWhy
Your unit preference (kg or lb)So the calculator opens in the unit you actually lift in
Your barbell weight preferenceSo plate maths is correct for your bar
Your plate inventory (which plates you own, and how many)So the app only suggests loads you can actually make
Your personal bests (movement, weight, unit)So you can work off a percentage of your own numbers

None of this is required — the app works without you entering any of it.

4. Deleting your data

Because everything is stored locally, you delete all of it by deleting the app. On iOS, press and hold the app icon and choose Remove App → Delete App. On Android, press and hold the app icon and choose Uninstall (or Settings → Apps → MyBarbell → Storage → Clear storage to wipe the data while keeping the app). There is no server-side copy for us to delete, and no account for you to close.

5. Children

MyBarbell is a general-audience weight-training utility. It is not directed at children, and because it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children.

6. Third parties

MyBarbell embeds no third-party SDKs that collect data. If you download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, those stores collect their own data about the download under their own privacy policies, which we do not control and have no access to beyond the anonymous, aggregated sales reporting each store provides to every developer.

7. Your rights

Data-protection law (including the UK GDPR and EU GDPR) gives you rights over personal data a company holds about you — access, correction, erasure, portability, and objection. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, or erase. You are welcome to contact us at the address above to confirm this.

8. Changes

If a future version of MyBarbell ever starts collecting data, we will update this policy and the app's App Store and Google Play privacy disclosures before that version ships, and the "last updated" date above will change.
