Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. MyBarbell has no sign-in at all. Open it and use it.
Does it work offline?
Yes — entirely. The app makes no network requests, so aeroplane mode and a basement gym with no signal both work exactly the same as full reception.
How do I change between kg and lb?
Use the unit toggle on the Plate calculator screen. Your choice is remembered, and the app keeps a separate plate inventory for each unit, so switching units doesn't scramble the plates you told it you own.
The app suggests plates I don't have.
Open the plate inventory and set which plates — and how many pairs of each — are actually on your rack. The calculator only solves loads from plates you've said you own.
Why can't it hit the exact weight I typed?
Because your plates can't make it. When a target isn't loadable, the app shows the closest weight it can build from your inventory rather than silently rounding.
Where are my personal bests stored? Will I lose them?
They're stored on your phone only, in the app's private storage. That means they survive app updates, but they are not backed up to us and are not synced between devices — there's no account to sync them to. Deleting the app deletes them.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app. On Android you can also use Settings → Apps → MyBarbell → Storage → Clear storage to wipe data while keeping the app installed. There is no server-side copy.
